Sorry for not being very active lately folks, but real life is kicking in and I have been busy prepping for a few things, one of which is a trip to Africa for three weeks that I am really excited for. Anyhow back to gaming. Last year during Oscar Season I wrote a post for Tor-talk discussing the best Flashpoints in SWTOR with an Oscar theme to them. I was going to revisit that topic this year discussing planets, and wanted to have a reference point to look back to. Since Tor-talk is no longer active I figured I would re-post it here. Hope you enjoy. Continue reading
Tales From MMO’s Part 4: The First Group
I had just started a new adventure on my freshly minted Iksar Shaman. I chose a shaman because I thought the class was similar to a druid, being in tune with nature, and such which I enjoyed, however they seemed to be more of an aggressive class and I wanted the ability to lay waste to my enemies. Thus Khazan was born.
Now at this point in my MMO gaming career I was still quite the little nooblet. Continue reading
SWTOR Patch 1.7 – To Gree or not to Gree
So patch 1.7 just dropped Tuesday and I logged on in the morning to check out the new various reputation quests and rep vendors that were added to the game as well as the Gree “event” on Ilum. I use the term event loosely since I am guessing it will return every month like the Darkmoon Faire in WoW and thus is not really an event at all but sadly just content that will be unavailable for half of the time. I would honestly be happier if it actually was a rare, once a year thing but I guess time will tell. Continue reading
The Dreadful Entity and Hidden Bosses
Last night for those that happened to witness it was probably the most exciting night in SWTOR since release day. Carnage Gaming over on the Shadowlands server took down Dreadtooth with ten stacks of Dreadful Resurgence earning them a nifty new title “The Resurgent” and a world first kill. But this was only the beginning of the excitement that would follow. Continue reading
Tales From MMO’s Part 3: The Birth of Khazhan

Welcome to Tales from MMO’s, a rambling journey of my experiences good and bad through many MMO’s over the years. For earlier entries, and my first experience with a train, you can check out Part 2. So I had been playing Everquest for a little under a year now, I had tried a plethora of characters, from the first steps into the darkness of Neirak with my Dark Elf Warrior, to my hapless struggles in Black Burrow with my Barbarian Warrior. Continue reading
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

With the announcement of patch 1.7 for Star Wars the Old Republic due out sometime (censored), reputations are making their way to the galaxy far far away. Today we are taking a look at the evolution of reputations in MMO’s and what players can expect to see when that shiny new reputation tab shows up on their screen. Continue reading
Tales from MMO’s Part 2: Beetles and Spiders and Gnolls OH MY!

Part 1. So I had just been killed in Neirak city by some jackass named Pain and Suffering, clearly a high level player picking on a helpless new player. (It would be weeks before I would discover than Pain and Suffering was the generic title for any environmental damage and I had simply drowned in the darkness). Continue reading
Seasons
Greetings gamers, and welcome to another Gaming Haven review. Seasons is a strategy game for 2-4 players where each of you takes up the mantle of a mage competing in a three year long tournament to become the best in the land. It features some drafting and resource management elements, with cards that provide different levels of interactivity. Continue reading
Tales from MMO’s Part 1: Damn you Pain and Suffering
I have been reading a lot of reflective blogs lately about “the good old days” in MMO’s. Times when people were learning or experiencing new things, or people’s first impressions of the world and their journey along as the game evolved and grew. Reading these stirred up some nostalgia for my first experiences in the MMO world and how that grew and changed and so I decided to write this new column to re-live some of the good and bad memories and my experiences over the years. Hopefully this will spark some good memories for you if you read this, or at the least give you a good laugh at how big of a noob I used to be, and in many ways still am. Continue reading
